Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

If the idea of a great getaway gets your heart beating fast, there’s no better place to set your travel sights than Palm Springs, California. Between the sun, towering palm trees, incredible shopping stops, and rich history and architecture, Palm Springs has a way of drawing visitors in time and again! While there’s so much to see and do in Palm Springs, one of the highlights of any visit in this direction is definitely a trip up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Mountain Station. When you could stand for a breathtaking view and a bird’s eye perspective on your surroundings, this activity should absolutely top your list of must-have adventures while you’re in town.

A Sky-High Look at Palm Springs

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Mountain Station is located at 1 Tram Way and runs Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and Friday through Sunday from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm. This versatile schedule makes it a great stop to add anywhere on a packed Palm Springs itinerary when panoramic views are what you’re longing for. This particular tramway enjoys the title of the largest rotating tramway of its kind on the planet! For those that love to check iconic stops off your list, that alone is often enough to make it an amazing experience.

An Elevated Experience

Those that take time to ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will become part of a tradition that first started in 1963. During this time, the tramway was built as a solution to transporting people from the Coachella Valley to the San Jacinto Peak more easily. Today, this mode of transportation is convenient, but just as much enjoyed for the thrilling views. The tram takes guests across 2.5 miles of airspace offering up unsurpassed vistas of the Chino Canyon cliffs as you travel along. It only takes about 10 minutes to reach an elevation of 8,516 feet but along the way, tram cars rotate to provide different angles for observing and photographing. At the top, tram riders can enjoy time exploring the high-altitude restaurants, documentary theaters, gift shop, observation deck, and even time in the natural history museum! This area also boasts a variety of hiking trails if you prefer to trek your way back down.
